I wait here
Is there any point in glancing ahead?
That story doesn’t fit,
It can’t be mine.
Hastily hold everything in reach that is mine,
Anything that can’t be taken
As I look to see what remains
To find some sense of security

But it’s too soon to tell where I am
And it’s too dark to see what I have
So the gaps are filled with the only options imaginable
The options of Pain
Of carrying Hurt
Of feeling loss
Of being misunderstood
